Healthy Summer Snacks and Desserts

During the summer, it can be tempting to load up with sweets and snacks, since you typically have a little more leisure time on your hands. That being said, it is best to stick with healthy options in order to keep your body in the best shape possible.

If possible, you should take in salty and sugary snacks sparingly, and replace them with better options. Here are some easily made things that can fill cravings with simple and delicious flavors:

  1. Banana Vanilla Pudding. This is a classic summertime treat that you can make in minutes. Simply take a package of banana vanilla pudding, add low fat fortified milk, and let it settle in your fridge. In a short amount of time, you’ll have a deliciously cool and smooth dessert for people to eat that is low in fat!
  2. Peanut Butter Sandwiches. While every person has had these growing up, they remain a constant staple of summertime food. You can use wheat bread to be healthier, and peanut butter is a great source of protein. Add honey or jam or bananas to add even more taste!
  3. Fruit Salad. Simply combine fruit in a bowl, and add a bit of whipped cream or cottage cheese, according to taste.
  4. Veggies and Dip. Veggies are very healthy for everyone, and make a perfectly good and crunchy snack. Provide ranch or another kind of dip to add extra flavor, but be sure to get the low-fat type.

When it all comes down to it, it is perfectly possible to have healthy and good tasting snacks that fill the same needs as the unhealthy ones do. The better you eat, the better you will feel!
